Lufthansa Technik Budapest (LTB) and Austrian Airlines AG signed a 3-year contract regarding heavy maintenance checks. The ceremonial contract signature took place in Budapest at Zilah Café House. Dr. Burkard Wigger vice-president and Martin Schmidt, director of commerce from Austrian Airlines, Elmar Lutter CEO and Sándor Szomora, Deputy Chief Executive from Lufthansa Technik Budapest Ltd. signed the contract about the overhaul of 20 Airbus A319, A320 and A320 types of aircraft. The contract, which will come into effect in 2009, will last until 2011. The value of the total overhauls will exceed HUF 3 billion.
The relationship between Lufthansa Technik Budapest Ltd. and Austrian Airlines started 5 years ago: during this period the overhaul of 20 aircraft have been completed at LTB's maintenance basis at Ferihegy Airport. The majority of the completed overhauls included the repaint of the aircraft as well.

Austrian Airlines ordered the retro-style painting for the 50th anniversary of its operation. The unique image was introduced for the invited guests - including LTB's representatives - at a birthday party.
